Shopify x TikTok 2021

Launched August 2021, social media giant TikTok announces a new e-commerce partnership with Shopify which is set to change the landscape when it comes to online shopping.

The announcement first came in October 2020 with the news that new tools which will be launched on TikTok will allow Shopify merchants to leverage their marketing campaigns directly through the Shopify platform and that TikTok has developed integrations for a Business Ads Manager.

Fast forward to 2021, we now know that very soon Shopify merchants with TikTok for Business accounts will be able to add a ‘shopping’ tab to their TikTok profiles and better yet, sync their product catalogs to create mini store fronts.

The pilot was first launched in the US and the UK with plans to roll out the new feature world wide over the coming months.

Another great feature that is set to become available is the ability to tag products on TikTok videos using the integrated product catalog pulled from Shopify, this will allow users to shop directly through the videos they are watching to the merchants shopify store.

Unlike Instagram and Facebook, the purchase of a product will not happen in-app, the customer will be directed to the merchants shopify store.

Importantly, customer data will be managed by a new TikTok pixel which can be located within the app once downloaded.

The Shopify app can be found here:
