Alan Morkan – Winner: UK Ecommerce Developer of the Year 2019

1 min read

It is with some delight that I can report Alan Morkan won the title of UK Ecommerce Developer of the Year 2019 at the UK Ecommerce Awards last night in London!

Alan has always been extremely modest about his talents, and downplays any superlatives used in conjunction with his work so it’s fantastic to see him get recognition at this level and on this stage.

With a background in Computer Science from UCD, and an open source ecommerce developer at heart, Alan started his ecommerce journey in StudioForty9 over 10 years ago and was instrumental in coding and supporting some of the earliest Magento extensions in Ireland and the UK, including payment gateway integrations for Realex / Global Payments, HSBC and Barclays.

All of you know him as a creative and resourceful developer who has built extremely custom solutions for ecommerce, including numerous ERP and EPOS integrations, custom product selection experiences, and multi-inventory and omnichannel solutions which have been used to drive significant revenue for retailers dedicated to dominating the online / omnichannel market in their vertical.

For the past two years, Alan has been the Chief Technical Officer at StudioForty9, has led the way in innovation at the company: implementing best practice for CD/CI, undertaking the training, encouragement and development of team members, and overseeing build processes.

It’s been a pleasure and an honour to work alongside Alan over the past ten years. He’s a both true friend and a wonderful colleague, and I hope you’ll join me in congratulating him warmly on this milestone in his career.

Congratulations Alan!
